Videocard question!

Alright I have all my new pieces in except for the video card.

AMD 64 3500+
Asus A8V Deluxe
2x512 MB Corsair 3200XLPRO
550W Antec True
The usuals
Using Ti4600 by ASUS

My question is, buy 9800 PRO by ATI now? or wait and buy the 6800 Ultra / X800 XT?

I ask because I was looking at Doom3 pages, and they say "Preferred" settings include those higher end cards. Is there a problem with having a lower end high end card like the 9800 PRO if I'm going to be playing those high end games? I know it wont be extrememly different, just fishing for opinions here.

My problem with going the ATI route is I've had problems in the past with them, and have never had issues with nVidia (knocks on wood).

Price isnt too much of an issue, but if I can spend 225 on a 9800 PRO over 600 on a new one I'd stick with the 9800 PRO if it will be that much more worth it over my ti4600.

Also, not doing any OC'ing, just doing stock for now, unless I get the 9800 PRO, I'll flash bios to XT and get a Zalman Heatpipe. Any need to get new HSF for 3500+? I'll have 7 fans on case; 3 intake - 4 outtake.

you could look at the nVidia 6800 for ~325

I personally like nVidia better...just had better experience with them.

Edit: The Ultra is a little over 600 but i would wait for the price drop.
