Laptop Issue

So I bought a T30 for my friend for his bday, (got it for 250 ) and i bring it home and go to install xp on it and after a few minutes the screen goes extremely dark. If i go FN F7 twice it comes back alright. I can still move the cursor and everything, but it's annoying and i wouldn't want him to think i got a ****** broken laptop. So whats going on here.... HELP!!!!

After you install and get it up and running, does it still do that?

yeah, its doing it now while its just on the desktop.

Possibly a setting in the Power Options? Check the Power Options in Control Panel. Might be a setting in the BIOS as well for making the screen go dim like that.
