Ok I am at my wits end.. Hope someone can help!

I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop computer with Windows XP. Recently it started to freeze up and I had to restart it. Now its doing all the time.. I did a disk clean up, defrag, scan disk, CCleaner, and removed some files I didn't need. Well all that didn't help so I did a total reformat and it worked for awhile then it started doing it again. The only thing I have added back was Office 2007, added my printer through the network and installed yahoo messenger. It did tend to run warm and has overheated and shut down a few times. I had speen fan installed before and the average was about 100F

Does anyone have any ideas what could be causeing the computer to lock up?

Is that in the bios startup? if so I can there is a password and when I got the laptop from someone they couldn't remember it and it cost $75 to resest the password.

if your screen goes black and your hard drive is still working it could be a video card issue, laptops are infamous for overheating.

Nice to see a fellow Volunteer on here.

Can you give us the model number? By pulling the specs we may be able to help you out more.
