hello again

got a slight question on psu's

will a 550W corsair vx run this system ok

cpu - Q6600
gpu - 1x radeon 3870
hdd - 2x western digital 500gb sata
ram - 4x 1gb strips
a dvd rom, dvd rw, card reader and the mobo

second is would a 750W run the same system with 2x radeon 3870

thanks

the 550vx will power crossfire X2's.

so yes.

but if you want something that will last you 4 years and have a 5 year warranty I suggest you look at the PC Power and Cooling 610 Silencer or higher.

Only thing I would note is that it technically has one 6 Pin connector and one 6+2 pin connector.
so one 8 Pin and one 6 Pin.

So if your motherboard uses an 8 PIn connector for the Cpu you will be down to only one 6 Pin connector..

Which is why I would always reccomend buying a power supply to last several years..

the connections it has is

1x ATX 24 pin & 20 pin compatible
1x EPS/ATX12V 8-4 pin
2x PCI-E 6 pin
6x SATA
6x 4 pin peripheral
2x floppy

thats right off the box in front of me

to be honest i spent the last 3 days looking at benchmarks for all my pc parts and decided going crossfire or sli is just not worth the money to me, i would be paying a lot of money for not a great deal of boost

ehh damm newegg unclearity.

But it is true that single card solutions are better. There is yet wide support for multi card soltions in all games. And even those that have it rarely get double the performence.
Not to mention added power consumption and increased temps.
