Okay well i've already gone over, couldn't help it.

Here it is so far, i swear im missing a major component lol - not sure though, i have bad memory.

Are you kidding?
The asus Stiker extreme 680 is like 290 USD!!
For that price you might as well get a Asus Maximus Extreme, or even a DFI X38..
And if you want to save some cash for similar performence just grab an Abit IX38 Quad GT.

unless you are gonna get vista, get 2 gigs of ram instead of 4 and spend that somewhere else. and ste is right, dont bother with a 680i, get x38.

Is that processor out yet? (isnt that the 12mb cache 45nm?)

Umm its only £32 for another 2GB of ram, and vista needs ram.

I'll have a look at them mobo's
But last time i got an Abit - it was unreliable trash and my pc crashed every hour, i replaced it. Same thing, got a Gigabyte mobo half the price and it was rock solid. I swear by gigabyte or asus. That was some years back though..

The Quad GT is all you will need though. And it is an uber board...

I assure you, the Quad GT is no push over, and if you wanna stay Gigabyte, thats fine, go with the X38 DQ6.
DQ6 is a sexy board, has 8 USB 2.0 ports on the back as well as dual ethernet..

Should i just get a Q6600 and overclock it like crazy ? get xp, half the amount of ram but get higher speed.

Its around £50/100usd.

if that is the new 45nm one, with 12mb cache, and you can get one. get it. But I thought those were not out yet, and were going to need their own chipset. is that not the nehalem?

The cpu is a toss up. You can't go wrong with either..

I would most certainly get XP Pro over Vista..
Only thing I don't like about the DQ6 is no onboard Clear CMOS, on/off and reset switchs like the Maximus, Extreme and Quad GT have..
