ALRIGHT! Here we go..
I have a very good idea as to what to do, I just need confirmation. So I posted up some pics of the resistor and multimeter measurements.
Here's the resistor (I had to trace over the markings because they were blurry):
Here's my multimeter readings. I set the multimeter to 2000 ohms. The resistor is a variable one and is rated to do max 1000ohms:
A close up of which prongs are touching (black and red - look at above pic):
So with all that in mind.. is this how I should solder the resistor to the card?
Also, can I use one of those six conic things to ground the resistor?
Thanks ahead of time. Need to know as soon as possible. Taking my computer apart tonight, adding my new VGA fan, redoing the paint, fan rearrangement, modding the case with a dremel, wire management, lapping the cpu and heatsink. etc etc (Lookout for a work log thread btw )
