how to select laptops?

hi guys..
okie im also about to buy my first laptop but the prob is that im not really into tech stuff so I have no idea where to start from. Basically I'm about to start grad school so i'll just be using it for notes DLing songs and mayb to watch movies on it or sumtin. My budget is around 700-800 and My question is that when im out there checkin out diff deals, what are some of the things that i should be lookin for in a good laptop? like im not sure whats considered a "good" speed or how many gb are decent enough so jus kinda help me out if u will plz =)

Just get whatever you can afford since you won't be doing much on it.

If it has vista though, make sure you have 1GB ram+

You prob also want a 160gig+ harddrive.

Intergrated graphics card should do what you need.

Should cost around 500-600.

That rings a bell as being an old model, a year or so old. You'd want to check out something like this:
