I just purchased a bunch of new hardware.

I have the E8400 Dual Core with Zerotherm nirvana cpu fan
gigabyte GA-X38-DS4 motherboard
2 x 1gb sticks of corsair dominator pc1066 ram
ati x1950 pro 256mb
ocz gamextreme 700watt ps

i got it all assembled and booted it up for the first time.
The monitor said no signal
the cpu fan spun for a brief second and then quit
i had fans on my video card spinning
all three case fans were spinning
power supply fan was spinning
but i cant get it to post

is this a doa motherboard? or did i maybe screw up somthing in powering the mobo

it has a 20+4 main power supply
which i filled
and in the upper left it has a atx x2 4 pin which my power supply didnt have a plug for

am i underpowering the mobo or do you think its bad?

thanks for your ideas

If your talking about the 4prong white plug by the copper heat pipes you need to have a plug for that. That is the power for your CPU.

well see now uve just made me feel stupid
i was thinking the plus 4 was the cpu power
and now everything works just fine

i dont think i can show my face around here anymore

thanks:)

We have never seen your face in the first place.. :p

I wouldn't worry about it, there have been far worse.

Like the guy that cut off the PCIE tab thingy on a 7800GTX... Yea, thats one for the records..

I saw a whole video on how to fix cough your PCIe by cutting off that tab. Cracked me up.
