Windows XP x64 Install

Hi,
Im trying to install windows xp 64bit onto my computer, theres no files on my harddrive.
I run through the installer and get to the bit where the computer reboots and goes into the blue and pale blue installer thingy where on the right it has a little slideshow of different features of windows xp. It continues to go through the different installer things untill it gets to finalizing installation and it says 6 minutes left, it then goes to a grey screen before restarting and going back to the start of the blue and pale blue screen where it says 39 minutes remaining again.
It will keep doing this for ever unless you switch the computer off.
Anyone know how to help me?
I really need to get this installed.

have you tried taking the CD out?

The CD is useless once the screen looks remotely like Windows XP. It's installing but you should take the CD out.

OK, i tried that but it still goes into the installing screen and reads "please insert your windows CD" or something to that effect and gives me the option to retry or cancel.

try reinstalling windows again, this is more likely to solve the problem.

I'd guess your CD is the problem.
