Actually i use ntune to set the clocks on the GTSes because nothing else freaking works right. I figure i'll let the fuzzy cube do its thing to test them.

rivatuner works fine....you do have to add it in the config files though---google it .

i hate ntune.

I do not think the author understands what scaling means.

"A scale factor is a number which scales, or multiplies, some quantity. In the equation y = Cx, C is the scale factor for x. C is also the coefficient of x, and may be called the constant of proportionality of y to x. For example, doubling distances corresponds to a scale factor of 2 for distance."

For example, the first set of benchmarks:
ATI Framerates
3870 X2: 72.0
3870: 32.2
Scaled: 72.2/32.2 = 2.236

You get over double the performance from a single 3870 card. Some kind of synergy exists in the 3870 X2.

another example:
3870 crossfire: 59.3
3870: 32.2
Scaled: 59.3/32.2 = 1.8416 - approaching 2x the performance

Nvidia:
8800GT SLI: 82.2
8800GT: 50.7
Scaled: 82.2/50.7 = 1.621

In every single benchmark posted, the 3870 crossfire and X2 scale better than the SLi'd 8800GT's.

Doesnt mean they get better overall frame rates though.

thats what i want to hear. i think instead of buying a 680i board i'll buy a 780i board and run tri sli (3 8800gt's 512mb), that would be prettydamn sweet, but by the time i have enough money the 9800's will be out and will most likly beat my tri sli setup so i might wait for them.

um... NO, why does everyone think they cna tri-sli anything.. the only cards that can do that are the 8800gtx and 8800 ultra... as you notice... those are the only 2 cards thats have 2 sli prongs...

lol... finally somebody who knows what they are talking about

I should I write a sticky to disprove this myth!!

I dont care what you say, i WILL find a way to connect 3 GTS512's!!!! even if it takes a soldering iron and hot glue. HAY IT WORKED FOR THE 7950X2!
