Hello.

I bought a new hard disk, which is faster/quieter than my old one. I currently have XP on the new one and Vista on the old one. I use Vista for all my main stuff.

What i would really like, is to have my vista installation on the new disk instead of XP. Can i transfer the installation in any way? If i install Vista on it from scratch, can i use the same product key? I'm not really worried about losing my XP install as it serves no real purpose to me.

Yes if you install Vista on the new one you can use the same product key. You can use the same product key on the same machine as many times as you want.

The only true way to transfer the install would be to make aImage of the drive with Acronis or Ghost.

Thanks a lot Makaveli.

I don't really need an identical copy, as when I install on the new hard disk, all my files will remain intact and my old Vista will still work, correct?

As long as you dont format that one right away as well. Yes.
