There is alternatives to Word. OpenOffice for example. It is fully functional and free. It also work on Linux. Games are working thru Wine in Linux. So Windows is not necessary. You just choose for it to be. I have played several games thru Linux and Wine. I also use OpenOffice even though i have Office. I have them both installed.
