I am looking for another video card and have these two in mind.

here are the two cards im looking at.

EVGA E-GEFORCE 8800GT 600MHZ 512MB 1.8GHZ - $237.99 CDN
EVGA E-GEFORCE 8800GT 600MHZ 512MB 1.8GHZ DDR3 PCI-E Dual DVI-I HDTV Out Video Card - DirectCanada

XFX GeForce 8800GTS 650MHZ 512MB 1.94GHZ - $329.99 CDN
XFX GeForce 8800GTS 650MHZ 512MB 1.94GHZ DDR3 PCI-E Dual DVI-I HDCP HDTV Out Retail Video Card - DirectCanada

the gt is almost $100 cheaper then gts. im not too familiar with the specs so which would you guys get. Is the GTS really worth $100 more?

The gts is only about 10% faster than the gt, and only really necessary if you play at a res higher than 1680x1050 with aa/af on. The 8800gt is plenty power, and two in sli can beat an ultra.

If you are going to OC, you might want the extra fan that the gts has. It has a much better cooler. that is one good reason to step up

The GTS has 25% more shaders, can overclock easily to 750mhz core, has better memory (none of the crappy qmodo memory that dies if run over 1ghz), has the better cooler, and usually comes with a game.

FYI i have had both the GT and GTS512, and i prefer the GTS just for the better cooler if nothing else.

Edit: unless you buy an EVGA GT you WILL void the warranty by changing the cooler on the card, so if you plan to change the cooler, i would go with either an EVGA GT, or just get a GTS. Remember to register the card within 30 days no matter what you decide on, most warranties require you to register the card for the lifetime warranty.

GT is $199 at microcenter...not worth it to spend an extra $100 on a GTS...they perform about 5-10% better.

plus its not hard to overclock it to gain 5% anyways (I doubt you could go 10% with natural cooling)
