On a dvd burner the SATA interface makes it possible to transfer data at five times faster data transfer rates than the current DMA33 standards. But I see all the drives I looked at still burn at 20*. So if the ide and the sata both burn at 20* to a dvd rw is there any point in the sata.
 
Easier to install and less to configure plus wire management and air flow like previously stated. Sata is also used to mirror HDDs.
