It could be that it recognizes some of the files as music. Have you tried to move the files and see if the prolem occurs elsewhere?
 
Well the move the files out of there and see what happens.
 
Yup sounds like it got corrupted. Dont know what to say. Try running TweakUI of the powertoys. Rebuild the Icon Cache.
 
that's xp yes? does xp have something like Vista (not sure if vista specific), that you can right click, properties, customize...choose treat as music/video/etc?
 
Well usually you can,but for some reason it won't let you do that to My Pictures, Videos, etc.

Maybe if you were to do this: empty out the Videos folder into a temp folder, so that Videos is empty. Empty out another Videos folder from another XP machine, and then transfer that folder from the other one, to the comp you're havin problems with, and overwrite the corrupted My Videos folder. May work, you could give it a shot.
