so ive been looking at this ram to complete my build since everybody seems to be talking about it. i have read alot of reviews online and most say that the heat pipe doesn't even work. does anybody have some experience with this memory and can vouch for the extra cooling? thanks.

Veedubfreak does, and I was the first to recommend that particular RAM thats the best 4gb Kit of RAM statistically I've ever seen

i am sure the heatpipes work, but they are not the miracle everybody is wishing for...it's just physics. Attach a paper clip to it and it will help dissipate a fraction of a percent of heat as well.

that said you can buy that if you want, or just buy a more "plain" variety...I recently bought some ocz 1x2...just had heat spreadders

I just ordered those for my new PC...it was the best rated/best deal RAM I could find.

I have those in 1GB X 2 , and they rock , solid clocks and they are cool to touch.

My set of 2x2 reapers just shipped today, so i'll let you know when i get em. I mainly went for the reapers due to the extended voltage protection.

I don't know...I have the 1150s and I have to say I'm disappointed with them. They really don't overclock that well. Part of it may be the motherboard, but they are much more finicky than the Platinums I had. The heatpips do help, but not all that much.
