How to format my C-drive

I installed Windows XP on my hard drive.As I made an error when downloading
another program,I have to reformat the hard drive.

How is it done ?

When I reach the c: I enter Format c: and get an error message
Format not supported on drive C

You can not format C from within Windows.

What did you download that you have to format? Maybe we can fix that?
