Right now, i have a Intel Prescott 3.0 single-core running at 47 C idle. When i run games such as css, it jumps up to 66-70 C. I might be over reacting but thats too hot! I've already bought an after market cpu fan with silver thermal paste but temps seem the same...Should i be worried? and if so what could i do to cool my cpu down. I use speed fan btw.

I'm currently running at 63C with a few programs running. At full load, it has hit 77C. It used to be cooler (most likely due to dust). When I first built the computer almost 4 years ago, it ran 48C idle and 62C load.

^all on stock

Anything under 72C should be fine.

yea and since your systems old theres a higher chance of you having dust buildup. just remove the HS and blow it out really good. use that canned air if you can get some.

Dang... I've got a Northy (bumped up to 3 GHz) and I'm idling at around 30C

I try to avoid stock thermal paste , go with Arctic Silver 5 (AS5) and make a nice air flow in your case (side panel intake, rear fan exhaust) my p4 as my sec computer runs @ 2.71 OC from 2.4ghz at 32*c idle 50*C on load
