They should've called it the 8800GX2, the benchmarks and specs have shown this card to be two G92 8800GTS!

I mean, what's going to happen when the 9800GTX and Ultra come out? I sure hope they perform better than SLI'd G92s, as from the last generation, one 8800GTX would destroy SLI'd 7900GTX.. so if that pattern follows, you'll have a 9800GTX/GT/Ultra that would be better than a 9800GX2? Does that make any sense? Or maybe they'll make their 9 series flagship the 9900GTX, who knows...

I don't understand why Nvidia jumped to the 9xxx series with 8-series tech, how moronic!

Aside from the naming, I like these single slot SLI solutions because you don't have to deal with Nvidia's crumby motherboard chipsets, unless you want quad-sli of course

Now the 3870X2 has a much more appropriate name, and it looks like it will deliver some good performance. Kudos to ATI! Review from Hardware Canucks:ATI Radeon HD3870 X2 1GB Review

nvidia is doing what they can to deliver the highest performance possible at a faster rate. They are throwing two pcbs together to get more power to games with little time wasted on revamping the core. If the card performs significantly more, then they might as well go ahead and step up the series name. It may be confusing, but much of it is marketing and at the end of the day you simply buy the best performance for the money you want to spend.

yeah.. kudos to ATI, until the 9800GTX does follow suit and crushes the 8800 line up. 3870x2 competes with ultra, and the 9800GTX demolishes the old 8800 line up.... uhh.. 9800 GTX crush ATI?
