They should've called it the 8800GX2, the benchmarks and specs have shown this card to be two G92 8800GTS!
I mean, what's going to happen when the 9800GTX and Ultra come out? I sure hope they perform better than SLI'd G92s, as from the last generation, one 8800GTX would destroy SLI'd 7900GTX.. so if that pattern follows, you'll have a 9800GTX/GT/Ultra that would be better than a 9800GX2? Does that make any sense? Or maybe they'll make their 9 series flagship the 9900GTX, who knows...
I don't understand why Nvidia jumped to the 9xxx series with 8-series tech, how moronic!
Aside from the naming, I like these single slot SLI solutions because you don't have to deal with Nvidia's crumby motherboard chipsets, unless you want quad-sli of course
Now the 3870X2 has a much more appropriate name, and it looks like it will deliver some good performance. Kudos to ATI! Review from Hardware Canucks:
