CD Rom Stops Working randomly

Hey guys, here's what going on. Everyone once in awhile I notice my computer no longer "sees" my D:\ drive, it just dissapears.
Last time it happened I was playing Battlefield Vietnam, during a map reload I get an error message telling me to make sure I have the game CD in the drive..I look for D:\ in my computer..gone..then I look in device manager and it's gone there as well. When I reboot the PC it comes up again on restart but will at some point disappear again, sometimes when it's in use and sometimes when it's not. Any ideas? TIA

you have WInXP?

go to hardware manager, and scan for hardware changes. it will pick it up automatically.

Did that Blind_Arrow and it did reinstall it but it eventually just
wen't AWOL again while I was using it..it just goes poof..gone.
I also noticed the computer is starting to "Lockup" randomaly as well. Could this be a Power Supply issue?

no, not powersupply issue, as in goodpower supplies, they eventually shut down the system.

check your data cables that went into CD/DVD, they might be making problems and causing PC Locks
