A few months. I dont think intel has released any real dates yet, but why not wait a few more weeks and see. Plus, you will get more** gaming performance out of an e8400 than a q6600, and you wont spend as much. And the new quads will be much better performance than the q6600. I mean look at the performance diff between the e6850 and the e8400. and the e8400 isnt even the top one.

Do whatever, but I see you regretting not waiting. If the price is too much, you can always get the q6600 for the same or lower.

he could always get the one below the q9450, it will have lower cache but i doubt it will make any diff in gaming, its suppose to be about $50 cheaper.

yeah, i just looked up the thread with the info, the q9300 is 266$ per 1000. which means they will prob go for about 275-300 when they first come out. and once again you are right, both the q9450 and the q9300 have 6mb cache, not 8 like the q6600, but I bet they OC like crazy. but on that thread(intel price cuts for '08 thread), it says that they were supposed to be out by 20th of jan...

yup, just higher cllock speed...

Well Couple of weeks...Hmm, Your saying the e8400 is better than the q6600 even though the e8400 is a core 2 duo? I can start building my computer now but if I'll wait for a better core 2 duo or better quad core, will I need to change my mobo/ram/gpu/psu/etc.? Or will it all work together fine?
John

it will all work together fine. the e8400 is a socket 775. There are some on here that will say the q6600 will out perform the e8400, but overclocked, I dont think so. It is your call if you want to wait for the new quads, they are going to be more expensive than the q6600 or about the same(the lowest one).

I just ordered my e8400 :D
