8800Ultra vs HD3870 X2 comparison

The table is probably normalized to show what percentage performance gain(or loss) the x2 gets. The ultra being 100%.

Also, the crysis benches suck, because the game has HORRIBLE multi gpu support.

the HD 3870 x2 did exceptionally well n i am proud of it. I am willing to get one so i can finally game with everything on high for the first time ever!

to anyone who thinks the R700 or RV770 comes out Q2-3 2008 did not get some things straight. From what i heard, the R700 from a roadmap a while back from AMD showed that the R700 wont come out until Q3 2008. As for the RV780 or whatever, it probably wont show until Q4 2008 to Q1 2009.

i, for one, dont care what maroon1 says to put AMD down n all, im still gonna get me an HD 3870 x2 n another one later this year. I NEED A GRAPHICS CARD n im glad i waited this long for the R680 to come out, been planning this since last year.

nosboost, what's wrong with u? Be impressed that the RV670, which supposed go against the 8800 GTS/GT, was slapped together on one PCB n actually performed as good as an 8800 Ultra n cost $100-$200 less then the Ultra or GTX n still perform better than the GTX n just as good as the Ultra. I'm getting this sucker n do a nosboost *kiss it* n show it to u guys when i get it.......when ever it comes out that is.

I'd say the 3870x2 is a good contender, and if the RV770 is a big improvement then things will get fun!

I don't need to put AMD down because in my opinion they are already down. I just posted a review for HD3870 x2 !! If you think that this review puts AMD down then thats your problem

GTS 512MB performs on par with GTX and very close to Ultra, and it cost only $279 after MIR

It would be more fair if you compare it to GTS 512, or the 9800GX2 which supposed to com out on February

i'm gonna have to fly w/ maroon on this one.. i really expected a bit more out of this card.. not that its bad or anything... but if the 9800gx2 performs anything like 2 8800gts' in SLi.. then ATi loses again...

i'm not saying its a bad card.. not at all.. i had just hopped for more.. it seems to be just a tiny bit better than an ultra...

i'm selling both my gtx's... as SLi i have found is a waste of money... and just picking up a new case and 8800gts g92....

the 3870x2 is a great card, but for the price I don't see myself getting one.

I will most likely either sell my 3850 512mb and get a 8800GTS 512 and vmod it, or just buy another 3850 512mb and go crossfire with both clocked to around 950mhz.

Either way, the overclocked 3850s would be a **** of a lot cheaper than a 3870x2, and perform much better than an overclocked 3870x2.....and the overclocked and volt modded 8800GTS 512mb (more likely I'll go this direction), will most likely destroy an overclocked 3870x2 setup as well.

Yeah, but I would want to upgrade to X38 first, and I would need to upgrade my radiator too if I were to put 2 gpus in the loop.

I think a single 8800GTS 512mb is my best option...they sell new for 185 quid shipped as well so I might pick one up in awhile.
