I got my WD external hdd today, but its not cooperating. When I plug it in, windows recognizes it as an unknown device. I double click on the unknown device, and then I click on driver details. It says that no drivers are installed or not needed. I cant even see the drive in my computer. I looked on some reviews on newegg, and ppl have said it is stock fat32, but that should be affecting it.

I guess no one has found any xp drivers for it, since they claim it doesnt need any. Well im pretty sure the drive inside is still good, im thinking of buying an external hdd enclosure. Anyone know of any good ones that wont fail on me like this one.

Well i took the drive shell off, with everything still hooked up. I plugged it in and my computer recognized it this time and it works. So I will put the shell back on and see if it still works. The only thing I could think of is that the plastic shell is pushing on something like the psu or front led/power.
