Hey

I restarted my computer and then I got a message saying that Windows XP Couldn't start because the following file is missing or corrupted: \Windows\System32\Config\System

So i looked up on how to fix this and i tried to follow these microsoft instructions

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;307545

SO I followed part one, but when I did the first: copy c:\windows\system32\config\system c:\windows\tmp\system.bak,
it said the file specified cannot be found.

Should i keep going through? or what am i doing wrong?

thanks

It looks like the folder is missing so you cant make a backup copy of it. Just skip down and do the line:
copy c:\windows\repair\system c:\windows\system32\config\system
I dont know why you would want to back up a corrupt file anyway. You can go ahead and delete and re-copy all the other ones if you want but it may not be required in your case.

The system file was not even in the repair folder either, so i copied it from another computer and put it on a floppy, and then I put it into the right folder. I think it's working now. Thanks for the help!
