soooo with tax season just around the corner its time to upgrade and catch-up. =D

according to this chart

intel-desktop-price.gif

should i go for the Q9300 or Q6700? 9300 has more FSB speed but 6700 has more cache..

also, currently have 4 gigs of ram in my cpu, but my computer tells me i have 3.3, is it just like that?

also my last upgrade will be 8800GTS
then an aftermarket CPU cooler

Cache won't matter much. 6MB is still a lot. Q9300 will overclock further than the 6700, because it's using the 45nm process.

And if you were going for the Q6700, it's not really necessary. It's just a Q6600 with a 10x multiplier. Wait for the new quads to come out. Which is in a couple of months.

The reason your computer is reading 3.3GB instead of 4, I can only assume, that you're using a 32bit OS. You would need a 64bit OS to recognize all 4GB.

8800GTS...I hope you mean the (G92) 512 version of it.

yep the 512 version,

i think i'll just wait till the new quads to be out, hopefully by then the nvidia 9000 series will be too.

got my 8800GTS along with some updated ram.. 2 gigs of my ram is still running at 667,

look for 2 gigs of ram and probably a 7950GT for sale soon

does anyone know how long it takes EVGA to do the step-up thing? where you send your recently bought gpu and they give you an updated one for the difference in price

oh and i just saw this

Newegg.com - EVGA 512-P3-N841-A3 GeForce 8800GTS (G92) 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Retail

vs.

Newegg.com - EVGA 512-P3-N841-AR GeForce 8800GTS (G92) 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Retail

are theese not the same exact product?

It seems that there is a 'free' copy of Crysis bundled with one of the cards. Even though the one with the 'free' copy is $30 more expensive after rebate. I dont see quite how that works, lol. Unless there is something else that I missed.

Crysis by itself, is $44.99.

ok. would my PSU be sufficient enough for a single 8800gts?

i know for sure its not enough for 2
