the 7950gx2 was actually made of 2 7950GTX mobile (for lappies) cards slapped together

In the case of the 3870x2, having both GPUs on a single PCB should help performance theoretically, we shall see.

question, is it 2 RV670s slapped on one PCB to equal R680? AMD says the codename is R680, not 2 RV670s, so it's probably a redesign of the R600 or a small redesign of the RV670?

im so confused!! The whole time AMD has said the R680 is the redesign of the R600, until the RV670 hit the roadmap that just messed everything up.

The way I see it, is the RV series (excluding the RV610s and 630s), are die shrinks of the R600, using 55nm. And the R680 is another name or alternative for two RV670s.

ahh i c, makes sense. I do hope that the HD 3870 x2 performs better then 2 HD 3870s, or im gonna go mad!

Photoshop. Just made a credit card sized file, dropped the shadow, and turned it sideways.
