sound dead on GA-P35-DS3R

so it looks like i just got hit by a random failure. my onboard sound apparently no longer works and i've verified this under two operating systems. i've tried resetting CMOS, adjusting BIOS settings etc but to no avail. i'm wondering if anyone has had a similar failure or has any advice :/

at least it's from a bricks and mortar shop so i may be able to get a replacement the same day i can be bothered removing it. if i have to RMA this thing after owning it for just over a month i'm not going to be happy

Ugh i hope not. I use the 7.1 onboard for my HTPC.

i have a sound card, so i just disable the onboard sound..although i want to use the sound from the front panel ,but then i have to have all those azalia inputs haning out in my case.

well i can live, i just dug up a 6 channel card from my stock pile of parts about 20 minutes after it happened. i'm still incredibly annoyed though.
