Question about 3870 vs 8800gt

In hardware specs the 3870 beats the gt by alot.

But I don't understand.. why does the GT still come up on top?

Because of the clock speeds of the shaders mostly. Also, nvidia seems to have better drivers than ATI.

8800GT have 56 Texture mapping unit while HD3870 have only 16

The high texture fill rate that 8800GT have is one of reasons that makes 8800GT better performer than HD3870
