I thought FN + F6, F7, etc would change your brightness and whatnot? It doesn't do a darn thing for me. Then again, I upgraded from Vista to XP, so I had to find my own drivers. Maybe the driver has something to do with it??

Usually the FN+key LCD control is done in hardware and shows up as an event in software (like to display an OSD or something) but the hardware handles the actual task...At least that's how it is on a lot of laptops, my ThinkPad included.

Mine too, but admittedly I've only used it on a few laptops I've switched operating systems on. Toshibas were always a little funny, though. Some of their stuff might be driver dependent.
