i got the 3850 and it says i can't have both enabled at the same time
in oblivion, it refers to it as HDR lighting
can somebody explain to me what these mean?
and would it be better to just click ultra high settings and let it do it for me?

I'm not sure exactly what the comparison is, but heres how I see it:

I believe HDR is some lighting enhancement (seems to add a kind of fantasy 'sepia tone', check it out at sunset).

Anti aliasing smooths lines that are jagged due to digital pixelation. I'd say its a must (for me anyway) at lower resolutions, but maybe not so noticeable at higher resolutions. Your framerate will take a much bigger hit due to AA, than due to HDR.

hdr litghing imitates your eyes a lot more. ex if you have been in the dark for a bit then you come out into the light your eyes are sensative and everything is bright, thats what hdr is, in games, i prefer it way more then aa, and if you have an ati card there is a patch you can download to allow hdr and aa at the same time.
