Newegg.com - Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Retail

my suggestion.

or the gigabyte ds4 x38 board. but i have a grudge against asus for 2 bunked motherboards and non existant customer service.

the p5e supposed to be a great board though XD.

i have never had bad service from asus, at first i thought the person i was speaking to about my maximus formula was a retard, but i later realised she was right, asus and gygabit are the same company anyway, so youstill get teh same build quality for both boards, i personally love my maximus formula, i have built with other boards but never used them for personel use, i have doen soem over clokign on soem tho, and the maximus formula for me has been the best board ive ever used, im preaty sure gigabyte has a maximus formula equivelant board tho, i would go for that one if you disliek asus.

would this power supply have enough power for this, plus maybe a little for future overclocking/ futureproofing? Or should I crank it up a bit...

Newegg.com - SeaSonic M12 SS-700HM ATX12V / EPS12V 700W Power Supply 100 - 240 V UL, CE, CB, TUV, FCC - Retail

I want a PSU that can handle crossfire cards, all the things listed, and several USB devices- and last 5 years.

the other i had in mind was Newegg.com - ETASIS ET850 ATX12V / EPS12V True 850W, Max 950W Power Supply 100 - 240 V UL, cUL, CB, TUV, MEMKO - Retail

JUst a little worried since I did a wattage calculator and using similar parts (didnt have CPU, or Video) it came to nearly a Kilowatt of power >< I sure hope its wrong.

I'm not sayin asus is bad or anything XD just saying i've had a coupole bad run-ins with them. I'd like the idea of the maximus. looks like a stellar board. I can only get kicked so many times before I go elsewhere though. XD

anyhow I only suggested ballistics because i've heard/read it overclocked better than the xms2. no other reason. 50$ after rebate seemed good too.

amperage > wattage PC silencer 750 would be wonderul if you want tons of watts. That seasonic looks good as well.

the 850 looks a bit overkill. but up to you

XD mod cables are definitely sweet. love mine. yeah it has 1 60A rail. as for enough juice to run 3870x2 I'd say so. BUT you may want a 2nd opinion. I don't knwo for sure since I wont follow ati cards anymore. So don't know what they take to run. Id imatine it could SLI a couple GT's no problem if it was crossfire edition. if thats any comparrison. dunno.

and yeah it looks pretty cool XD figured youd like that. XD

btw your sig vanished ;p

yea ive been real busy to fix it too >< but its ok, it got some RAM update and revised anyway.. its in an HP now.. lol. slightly better CPU, more RAM, runnin a little smoother, hopefully itll last til i get this together. So far iam looking at about 1,500 Dollars before all rebates and using DDR2 800 RAM lol.

not a single thing wrogn with ddr2 800 ram XD don't make it sound so bad lol. heck i'll be upgradign from my current ddr2 800 to some new ddr2 800 when its available here in canada.

1500 is pretty rockin. im too lazy to mail off rebates myself. depends how much i guess.

hmm will that one (the crossfire edition rather) Newegg.com - PC Power & Cooling Silencer 750 Quad (Crossfire Edition) EPS12V 750W Power Supply 100 - 240 V UL, CE, CB, RoHS - Retail be set to power 2 HD 3870's? Looks like its reading 1 60a rail...

but its beautiful.. and red.. black.. and silver.. and i might buy it just because its cheap and powerful and makes me happy on my geeky side... if only it had modular cables... i would marry it.
yea get that its perfect for your build
a little overkill tho...

I likes overkill- it means when it starts to degrade after years of abuse- i can still play what I have perfectly fine.

and honestly am I even going to notice a difference if my ram is 1066 or slightly higher?

Personally I have no quaffs with any company right now, I've had 1 MSI and 1 ASUS motherboard before, both worked fine in there lifetimes, Quantum Fireball HDD (known to burn out and catch fire) Western Digital HDD that lasted major abuse for 7 years....being my first HDD that was all mine... (lots o'porn and virus later lol man.. to be young again)

The only thing I really don't like are some cases... HP and GATEWAY.... and for cases I've got some nice sheets of acrylic I think Iam going to fashion into my own case.... 2- 2x2ft sheets should be plenty lol

Oh and btw I calculated what it would take to make it DDR3 rams/(4GB) compared to 800s and its roughly 500 dollars more lol. So not worth it right now... rather spend 500 more bucks and get 2 more vid cards and Quadfire myself some 3870's LOL

or- since they are coming.. but when??? the HD3870x2(3890) or whatever they will be called....

anyone know when these are supposed to hit? Iam nearly certain I have my build now... I have been flip-flopping with Intel and AMD for a while.. its been a really tough choice really.. despite benchmarks and all that googley, the only thing going to break it is after I buy everything else- if AMD has come back to take the crown from Intel by force- then I'll have to find another motherboard.

Decided: Against Nvidia. why you might ask... it's fairly simple.. without overclocking the HD 3870 beats most Nvidia stuff- expecially in price. and I will NOT OC the Video. (Personal choice) another reason being I've had my Radeon 9000 for .. 7 years I think now.. and its only recently been screwing up on Higher paced games, 7 years.. thats quite dependable, before It I blew some Nvidia card, and before it I had a good ol Rage 128 and Diamond Stealth card lol.

Soooo Sli OUT Cross/Quadfire IN - not that I plan to start with 2 video cards.. it would defeat my learning experiance. (Iam going from what I have now- a "POS" no one would pay 300 bucks for- to something almost state-of-the-art - I need to learn what it feels like "normally" before getting 4GB Ram, 2-4 Video cards and all that. 1 Cpu (Normal clock) 2GB ram (Vista) 2 HDD (sata) 1 video card (Very "god like" compared to what I have now.) Then if games are laggy or choppy or not to my liking- pop another video in. or more ram...

and FYI if you disagree look at hard facts on these 2 the powercolor is the one I plan to get- unless the duals come out before then. the 8800GTS (G92) was reccomended to me.

GPU GeForce 8800GTS (G92) / Radeon HD 3870
Core clock 675MHz / 800MHz

Stream Processors 128 / 320
Memory Clock 1940MHz / 2400MHz
Memory Size 512MB / 512MB
Memory Interface 256-bit / 256-bit
Memory Type GDDR3 / GDDR4

-------------------------------------------------------------------
theres quite a bit of difference in core clock, memory clock and stream proccessors.... sure 150Mhz prolly wont be noticed, but 500ish memory clock will.
