SLI for hi-res gaming

I'm planning out my new build and I'm debating whether or not I should go SLI. I heard that SLI is better at hi-res gaming and I wanna play games at 1920x1200. Would a single 8800gts 512mb be ok for hi-res or should i go with an SLI setup?

usually at that resolution we'd recommend SLi or Crossfire..

edit: i say at your res to sli, especialy with how demanding some gamnes are now adays, just remember sli doesnt work with everygame.

well it works w/ every good game thats out!!

and at that res i think you could get away w/ 1 gts for the mostpart.. in most games... but most newer games in dx10 will need SLi for that res.. i know.. cuz i use the same res w/ a gtx

what about games that run on 1680x1050? One GTX?

i want the HD 3870 x2. The most recent game im getting (or should of gotten already) is Hellgate: London. Crysis will come later.

ya, 1 gtx/gts can run 1680x1050 just fine... the only game i can't run full quality w aa and af on is crysis... other than that... everything runs great at 1920x1200... i just wanna have sli so i can finally play dx10 crysis!

u mean u dont play Crysis in DX10? I thought u were running Vista. There shouldnt be a huge peformance hit switching from DX9 to DX10, a new patch came out.

i havent even tried playing w/ the patch yet.. i just downloaded it yesterday but havnet had a chance to sit down and play yet....

i guess i'll try that out later tonite... hopefully i'll finally be able to play crysis dx10 on very high once i get another gtx
