Change Windows XP Password

I know we have probably had a few of these threads but I was hoping you guys could give me an idea. I have a friend that forgot his windows XP password. Is there any way or tool I could use to change it without formatting his PC we cannot get past the login screen. Thanks!

just a footnote


with the reset tool It has never worked for me when I reset the password and I entered a NEW pw. I always leave the password blank, works everytime.
Then once back " IN " windows change the pw to whatever you want.

I use password renew on a bartpe cd

it uses bartpe and has some other great tools on it.

really? for me it worked perfectly fine when I found this PC in the garbage and wanted to use it

if administrator is not passworded, boot into safe mode, login as admin, delete password. Or press ctrl+alt+delete twice at the logon screen and type in administrator. Thats what i do to get on my moms laptop
