I am trying to figure out which video card to get. Chances are I will probably wait until this November when a new set of a cards is due out, however, I am looking at a couple right now and am having troubles deciding on a video card. I'd like the card to be able to play even new games at at least medium settings. I plan on only playing games at 1280X1024 resolution. I don't have a desire to increase the resolution. Now, I have found two cards and want to know which of the two is the better card. Here are the two cards...

8800 GTS 320 MB
8800GT 256 MB or This other one

Thanks for your help.

hmm a $200 videocard...
If you just game at 1280 x 1024 then get the 8800GT 256mb

But if your turning up the settings to high/very high antstopic filter and anti antilasting, i suggest a HD 3850.
Newegg.com - Apollo XHD3850PG3-E3R Radeon HD 3850 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card - Retail
Overall, i would suggest this card:
Newegg.com - GECUBE GC-HD3870XTG4-E3R Radeon HD 3870 512MB 256-bit GDDR4 PCI Express 2.0 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card - Retail
Try to pay the extra 40 if you can.

Make sure your power supply has enough juice

The 8800gt 256mb is more powerful than you guys think, i run cod4 maxed out @ 1440x900 with 2x aa and im getting 90fps.

Well, I am trying to figure which of those two/three cards I listed is the best. Unfortunately I am on a tight budget for the time being and am just wondering which of the cards I mentioned is better.

the 8800 GT.

that 'other one' is pre overclocked. if you want the game then may as well grab it. if not you can probably overclock the other one to the same speed by yourself and save 20$.

Ok, thanks. How big of a difference would there be in the two cards? And that's what I figured about "The other one." I would like to get Crysis and am fine with not being able to run it all maxed out.

The 8800GT 256 is more powerful than the HD3870 512 at 1280x1024 with AA and AF.

The 8800GT is a VERY powerful card for the price...probably a better bang for your buck than the 512 version for at least right now. Soon 256 will be too little to run even games at 1280x1024 such as Crysis shows however for now it is a great card and will be a great card.

^^Thank you. Yup get the $200 one, and oc it to the $230 specs. i actually got mine oc'd even further, and its the same exact one.
