guys i have files like .avi and .wma that i really need to run under linux (opensuse )
does anyone know a program that can these kinds of files ??
like in windows i used to use a program called k lite .. is there something similar ??
I don't think opensuse comes out of the box with gcc so you can compile mplayer from source, see if yum or whatever suse uses has a listing in the depository for mplayer or you should be able to at least find an rpm for it
otherwise just compile it from source code, just beware you will probably have to install all the apps needed to compile C source code first
opensuse uses yast, yast is a package manager, it allows you to add or remove software that's already compiled and ready to run, I don't know if mplayer exists in any of the opensuse repositories though, should be easy enough to check by using yast, it should have a list
