Deadly video card?

Would it hurt my computer if I were to put a graphics card in that my PSU might not be able to handle

Might die, might not. I ran an x1900xtx that requires 30 amps on a 25 amp psu. Scared every day it might die. My dvd drive died, and I believe it's due to the crappy psu I had before.

well right now my PSU is great, but i guess the problem is that i have 16a and 18a output. I just bought a 8800GTS and a PSU with 18a and 18a output only to find out that the main power cord is 20 pin when my mobo is 24 pin

I think I just made a very power supply newb mistake. 20+4 for the main power means it can support a 24 pin connection correct?

yeah lol, the +4 pin adapter is there for that very reason. It's all good, happens to the best of us.

It probably would not kill your card directly...the first thing you would probably see die is the PSU itself...and if it goes theres a chance that anything else connected to it (meaning your whole system has a chance of going with it) usually it's just your PSU with any decent quality PSU but stuff happens.

lol how well i know the dieing PSU and stealing the other parts along with it the first build i did was claimed by that stpuid stockPSU i will never use a stock PSU with a case again
