I would never get a card under 512 .

However, after just looking at the chart for the video card rankings, I can't even see the justifacation of the 3850 when the 8800GT 512MB mudrers the 3850 and is not that much more.

If I could get $100 for the x1900XT....then a 8800GT 512 would be a consideration, just not sure I could get $100 for my card.

I mean at this point in time the 8800GT 512 is the 3rd best card, and can be had for under $300......that is a pretty good deal.

I spent 90 on my xtx... dunno if you could get that much...

If I were you, I'd be going 3870. cheaper, only like 10% performance loss, less power hungry, runs cooler, better image quality, ect

8800GT around $275
3870 around $250

I am probly just going to stay put with X1900XTX until I NEED the upgrade....then get the best bang for the buck at that time.

I mean, those cards will always be BETTER than my card, but by the time I NEED an upgrade...they will be CHEAPER too.

You can always overclock it. I just recently used RivaTuner to set my fan speeds properly and to overclock my X1950XT to X1950XTX speed (650/1000). I will probably pump it up a little more later on... I put MX-1 under the heatsink, so I should be good for a bit more. I am also considering buying a Zalman heatsink for it... :D

I got a vf900 on mine. Went from 100c to 70c max...

and yes, that's very cool for people who don't know about the x1900/1950
