They can put anything they want in their prerelease hype. I'm asking if there are any real world benchmarks proving that a processor with multithreading is worse or better than the same proc or a similarly performing one with physical multiple cores.
I'm not sure...you'd have to google some old p4 benchmarks but I would imagine that any kind of organized allocation of tasks to cores would improve efficiency.
Well one thing is that nehalem will have a 32nm die shrink with their tick tock thingy. 45nm nehalem then 32nm nehalems in 09. I'm guessing my q6600 will last until then.
lol I'm probably going to do that as well unless the yorkfields really drop down in price. I figure I'll hold off until Nehalem, and then I'll do a major upgrade: CPU, mobo, RAM, GPU, possibly water cooling too.
