I was trying to get some data off of an older broken HDD and while I was in windows a cord got stuck in the CPU fan causing it to stop... I set my machine to automatically shut down at 70C and it did... I found the problem and fixed it.. but there won't be any long lasting damage from this brief moment of heat will there?

there shouldn't be if it's the first time it happened

from what i know it only cause damage if it's at a high temperature all the time

All depends on the chip. Most newer chips will throttle if they get too hot, and if it was just the fan that stopped spinning i dont imagine it got TOO hot, as opposed to say, the heatsink falling off
