I try to build a new computer and so far purchased a Asus M2N32-SLI
Deluxe Wireless Edition motherboard and a Athlon 64 X2 6400 + AM2 cpu.

I intend to go with a power supply of 700 watts

What case should I choose and what power supply. The choice is immense
and therefore I appreciate your input.I am looking for good quality.

Thanks

Wattage doesn't mean much, because you could get an Apevia 700w and its still garbage compared to a Corsair 520hx (<- I'm recommending that btw) the right way to check the quality of a PSU is btw the amperage of the 12V Rail(s)

as for the case I'm not sure, because I don't really have tastes in cases :)

Here are 3 links you will find handy.... First is for the Hardware forum tutorials, second and third are for Power supply info (they are linked inside of the hardware forum tutorials also)...

As far as a CASE goes, that is pretty much up to A. Your budget, and B. your personal tastes. I use an Antec 900 case, and loving it.

How does one determine the amperage ? Should that be indicated in the specs
of the power supply ? And what should the amperage read ?
Questions over questions, looks like building a computer is much more difficult than it sounds.

Difficult, no, work, yes. Building a computer is 90% research and learning new things, and 10% assembly. Assembly is actually the easy part. Square peg goes in the square hole, circuit in the, you get the idea.... You won't accidentally put your video card in the RAM slot, or put your RAM into the CPU slot, because the interfaces are physically different sizes and shapes.

You just have to put together a list of the components you will get, and make sure that they are compatible (for instance, can't use an Intel CPU on an AMD Socket 939 or AM-2 motherboard.... can't use an AMD chip on an Intel LGA-775 board.) Memory will be either DDR2 or DDR3, and graphics will almost certainly be PCI Express. AGP is the older interface.

For the power supply info, the retailer you get it from (if online), SHOULD post up that info... I personally use Newegg.com - Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, Digital Cameras and more! just about exclusivly, unless there is some exotic part I need. I pulled the pic below from newegg. It is a picture of the side sticker on the PSU (all of them have the sticker), which lists the details...
