I have a P3 processor (800 MHz), 256 MB SDR, 100 GB HD.
Whenever i boot my Windows XP a problem occurs.
i.e. After the windows starts there is a time lag of 5 minutes

and then the welcome screen shows up (time lag is between

the windows XP loading page and welcome page that comes

after the loading page).

This is happening from the last couple of months and now i

have already increased the RAM from 128 MB to 256 MB but

still the problem persists. The processor is 6 years old.
Any solutions are always welcomed and thanks in advance too

Well one would expect a system like this to run a lil slow. When did this start happening? Does XP show that you increased the ram? How about msconfig>startup? Do you have a lot of entries checked? If so, uncheck all of them except your antivirus and reboot.

You are at the very bottom of hte specs needed to run XP. Expect it to take 5 minutes or more to load up and run. With a 800MHz CPU and 256MB RAM you cant expect it to boot and run within a minute. Even my P4 3.4GHz with 3GB of RAM doesnt boot within a minute.
