Hey all,

I just replaced one of my RAM chips because one of the original 2 appeared to be burnt out. Upon receiving my new identical chip, it seems that the laptop can't handle 2 chips at once anymore!!! I've tried every possible combination of old/new chips, together and individually, in each of the two slots, and every time the boot R/W RAM test passes EXCEPT when TWO OF ANY CHIP is plugged in at once. Anybody have an idea where this problem could lie, or how I could go about fixing it, short of buying a new motherboard? The slots and the chips themselves appear to be perfectly fine based on my tests; the laptop just can't handle 2 at once anymore. Probably a RAM controller somewhere. Thanks!

Derek
