Howdy.

I was toying with my motherboard, trying to figure out if a certain ram slot was dead or not (anybody know any >$150 mobos that are good?) and I boot into windows and it tells me i have to activate, odd, I've already activated months ago... so I go to activate and it tells me it can't find an internet connection, odd, I should mention I've been using a new HDD since yesterday (if it was the hdd, it would have made a fuss yesterday) so I plug in my older hdd (I made an image of the old one and stuck it on the new one btw) and I can go on and frolick with no problems...

reinstalling is not an option, calling in isn't something I'd like to do either... Solutions? Anybody know what caused this suddenly?

This is a legit copy of XP by the way.

It is caused you made a image of the drive. It sees a change in your hardware config and now wants you to activate and update that info with M$.

Well that would be a issue as well. Have to have current date and time when you activate. :p
