Reformatted: What to do?

So I've just reformatted and installed a fresh copy of XP. What I want to know is which protection softwares should I use, IP blockers such as Peer guardian, anti-spy/adware, and what other basic steps should I take to ensure the best for my computer.

AVG or Avast for antivirus. IP blockers arn't really necessary.

Peer Guardian 2 is only necessay IF you use torrent.

AVG or Avast for anti virus

then find a nice free firewall.

Like what? Install your software. Use your PC. That is all there is to it right? Dont use IE. Dont go to bad sites. Dont get infected with spyware, viruses. Taht covers it.
