So I OCed my card to the point where I wouldn't get artifact errors and could pass the ATI Tool test for at least an hour, now I heard that people flash the videocard/BIOS to keep these OCed settings.

My question is, why? ATI Tool provides the option to automatically set the OCed settings during windows startup, so isn't it just so much more convienant and less risky to use this method? Any disadvantages?

I'm guessing it might be more stable plus you can claim it to be faster than normal if you sell it :) Or maybe they don't want to run the drivers that allow for better overclocking. I know I've used older software/driver packs that had less overclocking ability but if set to the same speeds the older one had higher scores.... Bah, I don't really know I'm just rambling.

But some cards you can flash to get more pipelines. My card went from 12 to 16 for a easy 1800 points in 3dmark05.
