It's been awhile since I've paid attention to the computer world, so I'm sort of out of the loop, but I'm building a new computer. I dabble in a lot of things such as gaming, graphic design and DVD ripping.

Here's what I've pieced together...

Change that 8600GT into an HD3850 if you want to stay within that price range. But I'd highly recommend an 512MB 8800GT instead at about $250-$270.

I'd recommend changing the G.Skill to a pair of Crucial Ballistix. As for 2GB vs 4GB, if you're running XP, stick to 2. If running Vista, 4GB might serve you well.

As for the PSU, change it to Corsair 520HX. No questions asked. Wattage doesn't mean much. Company build quality and amperage on the 12V rails is much more important. The 520HX will be plenty for your system. Actually, a cheaper alternative, and possibly an even superior alternative would be the Antec Neo HE 500. Get whichever you can find for cheaper. You can also get their even cheaper non-modular alternatives, like the Corsair 550VX. Not sure what the alternative would be for the Antec.

As for the P35-DS3L - it's a solid board. Had one myself. Lots of features. If you're willing to, you may have to pay a slight bit more and get an Abit IP35-E instead. They are highly recommended around these parts.

Ya, the little diffrence in price between the 8800gt and the 8600gt make it tottally worth buying it beacuse of the huge diffrence in performance. ya hd3850 is good... but if your not going to crossfire then why not get 1 8800gt?

yeah, maybe look into the 256MB version of the 8800GT rather than the 3850.

ya they're usually around $210 which is like $100 more than what he was going to buy (8600gt)
