My dad lost some of his important documents for his business when I had to reinstall windows. the hard drive wasn't full formatted just erased then had a 2nd partition added (the files were on the first partition). Is there any way to get these files back, they are really important to him?

thanx, sometimes the search acts up for me by saying things like the connextion was reset or something like that.

well the program suggested by Makaveli and it didn't fine the files I need, is there anything else I can do to try and get these files back?

There i did the search for you. :p

It could be the files were overwritten. You said that the drive wasnt formated but a 2nd partition was added. Just cause the files were previously on the first (And only) partition doesnt meant that is where they were stored on the drive. They could be where the 2n partition now resides and overwritten with no chance of recovery. Unless the drive was constantly defragged there is no guarentee that the files can be recovered at all.
