e2180 overlocking help

hi there im new to all this.. just got a new machine together

using p35c-ds3r with 2gb of ddr 6400

first up i thought the memory had a speed of 800mhz? but its listed in cpu z as 400mhz. what am i missing?


secondly when i put the mod thru in the bios and increment from 200-250 bus speed .. it doesnt show in the cpu z.. fsb and buss still show the same speed as was before.

is it to do with the memory bus?

also why does cpu z not show the full speed when idle?

DDR-double data rate. The speed is 400MHz and it double to 800MHz.

What is a mod you put?

CPUz doesn't show full speed in idle because of Intel Speedstep technology. To turn this off, disable E1ST and C1E in the BIOS.

ok great cheers i'll have a look for that

here is what i think exactly what happens - i try to increment the bus from 200mhz to 250mhz.. and the memory bus seems to move up at the same time.

i then restart.. the computer then restarts itself twice and now in the bios, the changes have been 'disabled' and are back to what they were before.

when the oc isnt stable, the mobo resets it self to default.

just increase the clock frequency by little increments ...about 10-20 should be good.
then check cpu-z.
also make sure you stress test to make sure its stable.

Ya, i have this identical setup in my media pc, and apparently it decided it didnt like me setting my e2180 to 2.5ghz. So you have to keep an eye on it. The ds3 boards will disable your overclock if they fail to post successfully.
