HP DVD300i makes buffer underrun!!

I have an HP DVD Writer DVD300i, with the latest firmware 3.20. It was working perfectly burning CD-R discs but some time later it ALWAYS caused buffer underrun errors and never finished burning a single CD successfully, until now. The drive itself has buffer underrun prevention technology, as well as the burning software (Nero, Easy CD Creator 6). The drive reads discs well.

I tried reformatting and re-installing windows, re-installing the new firmware again... in vain.

Can anybody help? Thanks

is the buffer underrun protection enabled when you're burning the disks?

Of course it is. Man I tried everything... I even tried the older firmware to no use. Even new CD media, even moving the drive to another PC with another hard drive... I'm really sad to lose the drive
