Right now I have my cable modem connected to my computer through the USB. Should I connect my modem to an ethernet card instead?

i would

my family has a 600mhz celeron from 1999 or 2000

we had ours connected to usb (obviously, a slow one)

then my dad got a free ethernet card from sbc dsl when he got it for his office . . . that comp already had one, so we installed it into our home computer, and the speed from cable began to show its true form when we did that . . .

long story short . . . yes, do get an ethernet card - its the best solution for that

lol, i didnt know they had cable service in amish country! lol

Thanks for the advice. The good thing about living out in the country is that not too many people have cable connections. The more connections, the slower my internet is. Thanks again for the help!

yeah, you must acheive fast speeds in your area

during the day i get about 768kbps acheived. . .

at night, usually after 10, i get about 1.5~2.0mbps . . .

but im on a 802.11b network . . . so i dont get full speed

the computer i told you about, the one with the new ethernet card, can acheive 1.1mbps during the day and 2.6!! during the night!

good thing our cable company serves such a small area . . . only 2 towns

plus the fact that almost everybody is going for cheap 256kbps $25/month dsl

i know, CABLE RULES!

it OWNZ DSL

right now, im getting my all time best on the network . . .

2.6mbps in usa

2.1 in canada

YOU need to upgrade your pc?!

YOU?!?

i got an 86 on 3dmark03 . . .

i think thats kinda bad!
